Self-taught artist John Wilson started painting four years ago. Through lessons taken at the Creative Arts Guild under Visual Arts Director Brad Wilson, his self-described exploratory adventure has produced a body of work that includes non-representational and representational works.
A prolific artist, Wilson uses bold colors and strokes in many of his works using a layering style.
“I have an interest in the figure and recently have explored the use of a Pollack influenced style incorporated with figures in my paintings. As with all of them, the outcome is a striking surprise,” he says.
Wilson has exhibited at the Creative Arts Guild in October of 2013, Michael’s Fine Art in 2014 and the annual FESTIVAL Patron Exhibit for the past three years. His work is on display in public spaces such as the Dalton-Whitfield Chamber of Commerce as well as numerous private collections. Wilson is from Hawkinsville, Georgia and moved to Dalton in 1977. He is married to Cynthia Wilson and has a lovely daughter named Molly.
